PERSONALITY
Thor is the archetypal Favored Son, the one who was supposed to inherit the mantle of his father, groomed from a young age for the job. As a result, he grew up more than a little...arrogant, shall we say. At the beginning of his story, he's shown to be very conceited, overly sure of himself and excessively confident in his abilities and the foregone conclusion of becoming king of Asgard one day. He'd been groomed to inherit the throne from a young age, after all, told repeatedly that all that he surveys will one day be his and all that, and he swallowed the promise whole.

Of course, time brought a few things into perspective. A younger brother that was his by adoption rather than blood, a brother who was far more clever than he was, with tastes more ruthless to make up for the physical disparity between them. A brother who got by through trickery, manipulation, and deceit against Thor's brute force and honesty, and to say things were rocky would be a bit of an understatement. It tempered his arrogance some, although not until Loki had dabbled in magic and expanded his silver tongue enough to outmaneuver him, but it did teach him some humility. To look at things from a different perspective than his own. And above all, that he was far from infallible, and that maybe his suitability to rule wasn't as foregone a conclusion as he had assumed.

When he met first Jane and then the rest of the Avengers, he learned his second lesson. That allies are helpful, that they make you stronger than you could ever be alone. Working alongside other beings with powers different and in some ways superior to his own, with such different approaches and fighting styles, taught him the value of teamwork, and that there is no weakness in relying on others.

It took a stronger Asgardian than he to teach him his final lesson, and yet another sibling with secrets. When Hela took the throne for herself and cast him away to a different planet, and broke his hammer to boot, it shook his confidence more than ever before. Showed him he wasn't the strongest being in the world, even with allies at his side, and that even his powers had limitations. When he was taken into captivity by the Grandmaster he learned humility (sort of), and grew much less stiff about things and much more uncertain, less confident in his abilities and skills. He sought out allies to fill in the gaps where he was lacking, and pulled together a ragtag team despite their complaints to fight a battle he was fairly certain was a lost cause but needed to be fought all the same. He learned about things greater than himself, and thanks to this has finally grown into something of the king his father wanted him to be all along.

If we have a thread in progress, or you have an idea for one to start, put it here and we'll play on from there.  I'll probably put prompts up eventually too.
